The story so far: A Tiefling in shining armor leans on a two-handed mace and stares at the messenger. The messenger is a shadow master (a spy for the empire), yet he is scared and shaking in an environment no human wants to be in. The cave entrance deep in the abysses near the hells of fire is faintly lit because the guardian’s magical armor radiates a slight glow. A howling is heard from a distance, and some deep screams are heard before he begins to speak to the anxious messenger.
“Listen carefully and remember what I tell you. Send this message to your empire and the dungeoneer’s guild. So, you want to see demons, do you? I will tell you that is the last thing you want to encounter. Trust me, I am a Tiefling, and demon is inside me. Fortunately for you, I am a guardian of the 5th level of Abysses, and without me, your world that you know it – the sun, the green leaves, mountains, and fresh air wouldn’t exist. Demons are down here; the deeper you go, the stronger your foe! It is not for the faint of heart, and I must say I am contacting your people in good faith to save what you hold precious, but you must make haste as time is running out. I can hold the grounds of any vile creature that tries to pass through these dark, poisonous, clouded caves.”
The screaming continues, and tearing sounds can be heard, followed by growling and gurgling. The messenger is already walking backward, urging the guardian to finish what he has to say so he can dash out of the cave entrance and out of these forsaking hells.
“There is a presence of unusual evil I can feel. It is a strong one, not one to take lightly. It is the summoning of an army, and when it happens, I will not survive their onslaught. Strong demons past these realms will emerge, and it will take an army to stop them. I fear not even Lord Denonimas, the leader of the Bavidirian Empire and the good of humanity, will be enough. Your leader will have to call for the high elves of Silvernarion and the dwarf clans of the Staengdor to have any chance of survival if these immense and powerful demons emerge from the Caves of Morashitar in the Dwanen Mountains. The dungeoneer I seek will go deep into these caves and find the summoner calling out demons to form this army. He must be silenced before it is too late! Now go quickly before it is too late while I hold my ground!” he finishes raising his blessed mace and disappears into the fog where the screaming is heard, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions.
The messenger doesn’t waste time and runs for his life to relay this critical information to the empire and the dungeoneer’s guild. It is a contract that only a brave dungeoneer would take. Will it be you?
